The Winter Park/ Frasier/ Granby Area is a summertime playground and rafting should be #1 on your fun-things-to-do list. The family friendly Colorado River and the wet and wild Eagle River are both accessible to the Winter Park Resort Area. The drive follows the Colorado River Scenic Byway, with canyon overlooks and scenic vistas of the majestic Gore Range. Reservations are recommended for Winter Park rafting but we don’t normally need a lot of notice. We recommend wearing a swimsuit or shorts & a t-shirt. Appropriate footwear (sports sandals or water shoes) is required. You will get wet, so have dry clothing in the car for after the Winter Park whitewater rafting trip. Please plan to arrive at our locations at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.
COLORADO RIVER
The Colorado River is the closest raft trip to Winter Park, a scenic 90 minute drive along the Colorado River Scenic Byway. The Colorado is a fun family float with deep canyons, high mountain vistas and easy rapids. The whitewater is rated Class II and II+ and river conditions are great all summer. Even in lighter rapids, we play close attention to safety. Everyone wears a fitted life jacket and a safety briefing is given prior to each Winter Park rafting trip. Two person inflatable kayaks, known as “duckies”, are available to the more active and adventurous members of your party. Our trips meet at Radium, 20 miles south of Kremmling on the Colorado Headwaters Scenic Byway. Full day trips depart at 9:00AM and half day departures are at 900AM, 100PM, and 400PM. Please arrive at our headquarters in Radium 20 minutes before the departure. Radium is a historic 1800’s ranching town in the Colorado River valley. Many of the original buildings are still here, including the one room schoolhouse. The 100 year old barn is home to our donkey preserve. Come early and visit with our donkeys.
