The Vail Valley is central to Colorado’s best rivers and best mountain vistas. With both the family friendly Colorado River and the rambunctious rapids of the Eagle River nearby, the Vail/ Avon/ Beaver Creek area offers some of the best rafting available anywhere.
THE EAGLE RIVER
LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE! The Eagle River is a free flowing river with wickedly wild whitewater in a spectacular mountain valley setting. The rapids on the Eagle are wet and wild, with periods of vigorous paddling required. Safety is our first priority on Vail rafting trips, with participants wearing a fitted US Coast Guard approved life jacket, helmet and wetsuit. A thorough safety briefing covering whitewater procedures is given prior to each Vail rafting trip. This Vail whitewater raftingtrip is not recommended for children. For most of the season, the rapids are Class III and III+. At high water in early June, several rapids can reach Class IV. Eagle River rafting is available in late May, June, and early July. Half and full day trips depart daily at our location at the Wolcott Yacht Club (20 miles west of Vail on I-70). Our departures are at 9:00am and 1:00pm. Please plan to arrive at our location in Wolcott 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Wetsuits, helmets and splash jackets are included. Under the wetsuit, we recommend that you wear a swimsuit. Remember to have a warm, dry set of clothing in the car to change into after the Vail white water rafting trip. COLORADO RIVER
The Colorado River Valley is the next valley to the north of the Vail Valley. Our trips meet at our headquarters in Radium, about 1 hour to drive from Vail. Radium is an antique mountain town in the old ranch country along the Colorado. We have several historic buildings including the original ranchhouse, the one room schoolhouse, and a 100 year old barn that houses our donkey sanctuary. People love spending time with our donkeys. The Colorado River at Radium is a great family float with deep canyons, mountain vistas and easy rapids. Even in light rapids, we pay close attention to safety. All guests are required to wear a fitted life jacket and a safety briefing is given prior to each trip. Two person inflatable kayaks, known as duckies, are available to satisfy the more active and adventurous members of your party. The rapids are Class II and II+ and water conditions are excellent all summer. Full days with lunch & half days depart daily at 900AM, 100PM, and 400PM. You will get wet. We recommend that you wear a swimsuit or shorts. Appropriate footwear (water shoes or sports sandals) is required. Have a dry set of clothes for after the trip.
